We went along to Homegrown 2016 to film The Black Seeds live at Homegrown 2016.
They've never failed to deliver an energy-packed, killer set - it was magic to film.
We loved their set as much as the crowd did.
Here's our take on it, edited to The Black Seeds "Turn It Around".
Renegade Peach Project
Great Barrier Island
WE'RE here on GBI on a Renegade Peach Project retreat. We have been enjoying the Autumn sun and waves and have been busy editing and filming for our creative videography tutorials.
We have had such fun making social media videos that we thought we should make one for ourselves + set the challenge of making tracks for these teeny vids.
Homegrown 2016
We were in Wellington for Homegrown 2016 to film The Black Seeds (fresh from their tour of Brazil) and Shapeshifter. We worked with a NZVR360 rig and captured a VR360 view of both The Black Seeds and Shapeshifter performing. Both bands had outstanding sets for the huge crowds, and we were very pleased to be there to capture it all.
Here's the Homegrown 2016 Instagram video we put together for Shapeshifter.
LOCATED! MORE Tora!Tora!Tora! 2016 pictures
Hahaha! Sorry everyone.
Post-Tora!Tora!Tora! we're still on the road. Sometimes important things are temporarily overlooked. Such as SD cards with 100 more photos on them...
We found them! And they're now uploaded along with the rest of them to our Facebook Page. There are more photos of those Richter City Rebels, more George Rutherford + The Ba$h, more Imon Starr + King Home Boy (and Zoe Moon!) and we're introducing some photos of Electric Wire Hustle. BOOM!
TORA TORA TORA 2016
Tora Tora Tora 2016!! Our favourite 3-day coastal music festival amped it up a notch YET AGAIN this year. Great vibes, fantastic line-up, superb eats + coffee.
Next to the sea on the welcoming Bramley family's land, it feels like home away from home.
2016 delivered another whopper line-up - and our highlights video will incorporate some of the captured live audio. After a rainy start to the festivities, the clouds quickly parted and allowed patrons to shrug off their gumboots and dance in the sunshine.
This year also heralded a new addition to the Bramley family - 6 week old Willo Tora experienced her very first Tora Festival!
We focused on filming the event, but here are some photos we managed to snap along our 3 day adventures. Huge thanks to the Bramley family for their hospitality + generosity. For more photos, head to our Facebook page.
Shapeshifter - LIVE
Happy St Patricks Day!
Here's the second Instagram video we made for the Shapeshifter boys. This gig was such a blast.
Life Hack Social Lab - Sovereign Social Innovation with Youthline
We hopped aboard an exciting Life Hack + Sovereign Insurance social lab exploring volunteer recruitment and retention for Youthline. The event bought together the dedicated team at Youthline, a group of varied experienced professionals from Sovereign Insurance, and social lab hosts, Life Hack. Sovereign and Youthline have been partnered for four years, with Sovereign dedicated to supporting Youthline's programmes reaching South Auckland communities.
We filmed and interviewed participants during the two-day event and are putting together a video of interviews and the general hubbub, laughter and ideas that unfolded. We were stoked to be working alongside Life Hack once again, and were able to catch up with our League of Live Illustrators comrades. For this lab, The League were represented by illustrator extraordinaires Kelly Spencer and Rebeka Whale. We also got to utilise our new Rode lapel mics - dang they're good.
LUCID DREAMBIKE - with Bicycle Junction
THE FRINGE is upon us! Last weekend Mark travelled through the starlit Wellington streets...on a LUCID DREAMBIKE with Bicycle Junction
60 particpants ventured out into the night on a whimsical tour of our home-town Wellington, made even more magical through music, dance and performance. Thanks Bicycle Junction + all Lucid Dreambike Starlit Performance collaborators. Get on yer bike!

Jon Lemmon - "When It Came Along"
THIS GUY.
We've been working with Jon Lemmon on his crowdsourced music video for his track "When It Came Along" - a catchy, uplifting new tune from this talented source of good-vibes. Jon asked friends, fans and family to submit footage of themselves dancing, singing or vibeing with the track. From 6 continents, and remote locations ranging from Machu Pichu to an ice sheet in Antartica, videos began to be uploaded. Beautiful videos, full of quirk, happiness, extreme dancing, costumes, puppets, pumice and whimsy. Fantastic. It's been really lovely and easy to work with Jon, and we can't stop bopping our heads with a beaming smile on our faces each time we run through a draft of the final video. We also went out and filmed with Jon on location around Auckland - with some charming results.
More soon!
Two tiny pictures from our on location shoot in Auckland: street art, and ladies nestling in to a Pohutukawa tree.

On Location - Louis Baker "Rainbow" Official Music Video
WOW.
Talk about working with a professional - Louis was on task and hitting his marks time after time with his performance for our new collaborative music video project. Louis received NZOA funding to create a music video for his new track "Rainbow" and we were presented with the challenge to create a video that showcases Louis' powerful, honest and stripped-back delivery.
We made our way through seven locations in and around central Wellington, Carterton, the Tora coastline and Martinborough, filmed in streaming sunlight and torrential rain, and ambled along bush walks, beaches and shingle pathways. We're both really looking forward to putting together this video - more soon!
Location Scouting - New Music Video
We have been travelling around the Wellington, Martinborough and Carterton scouting for the right filming locations for an exciting upcoming music video project. New Zealand - we've got to hand it to you. What a stunner.
WGTN.
back HOME.
It's so great to be back in Wellington, and check out the sunbeams Wellington put on for us. You really can't beat this place on a good day. We're here catching up with the boys from The Nudge (they'll be over in Bali for NYE), Jon Lemmon (who's working on a new mvproject www.whenitcamealong.com), the fine folk at Good Nature, and scouting locations for our next music video project with the outstanding Louis Baker.
The Renegade Peaches lose their fuzz!
The Renegade Peach Project got on board supporting Bald Angels Charitable Trust's event The Big Shave 2015, taking photographs of participants 'Before' and 'After' they underwent an extreme trim! The event was raising funds and showing support for underprivileged Northland children suffering from the impact of cancer and terminal illness - AND going for the Guinness World Record for the most number of people shaving their hair for a cause, by 10 hairdressers, in one hour. Here are some quick behind-the-scenes photos from our Instafeed.
462 volunteers shaved off their hair - shattering the previous Guinness World Record of 375.
A great show of community spirit and support. Well done Bald Angels!

Fundraising for child cancer with Bald Angels 2015
SOPHI is taking part in an event to raise funds for children and their families suffering from the effects of cancer and terminal illness. In looking to sponsors to shave her head bald, Sophi wants to raise essential supportive funds and also have a better understanding and empathy for those who do not have a choice in losing their hair during treatment. Bald Angels is a charitable organisation dedicated to working with children and their families in the Far North, a region so often overlooked for funding.
As well as turning to individuals and business sponsors, we're placing some crafty jars around Kerikeri for people to place any burdensome small change into. Customers who donate some coin or voice their support walk away with a warm feeling in their tummy and a hand-crafted origami paper crane. See if you can spot them all! We've left the first one at Odd Mother's Cafe, Kerikeri.
WANT TO DONATE? All donations are welcome, however large or small. Every bit counts.
Online donations can be made to Bald Angels Charitable Trust
