Behind The Scenes

Great Barrier Island

WE'RE here on GBI on a Renegade Peach Project retreat.  We have been enjoying the Autumn sun and waves and have been busy editing and filming for our creative videography tutorials.
We have had such fun making social media videos that we thought we should make one for ourselves + set the challenge of making tracks for these teeny vids.

On Location - Louis Baker "Rainbow" Official Music Video

WOW.
Talk about working with a professional - Louis was on task and hitting his marks time after time with his performance for our new collaborative music video project.  Louis received NZOA funding to create a music video for his new track "Rainbow" and we were presented with the challenge to create a video that showcases Louis' powerful, honest and stripped-back delivery.

We made our way through seven locations in and around central Wellington, Carterton, the Tora coastline and Martinborough, filmed in streaming sunlight and torrential rain, and ambled along bush walks, beaches and shingle pathways.  We're both really looking forward to putting together this video - more soon!

Location Scouting - New Music Video

We have been travelling around the Wellington, Martinborough and Carterton scouting for the right filming locations for an exciting upcoming music video project.  New Zealand - we've got to hand it to you.  What a stunner.

back HOME.
It's so great to be back in Wellington, and check out the sunbeams Wellington put on for us. You really can't beat this place on a good day.  We're here catching up with the boys from The Nudge (they'll be over in Bali for NYE), Jon Lemmon (who's working on a new mvproject www.whenitcamealong.com), the fine folk at Good Nature, and scouting locations for our next music video project with the outstanding Louis Baker.

The Renegade Peaches lose their fuzz!

The Renegade Peach Project got on board supporting Bald Angels Charitable Trust's event The Big Shave 2015, taking photographs of participants 'Before' and 'After' they underwent an extreme trim!  The event was raising funds and showing support for underprivileged Northland children suffering from the impact of cancer and terminal illness - AND going for the Guinness World Record for the most number of people shaving their hair for a cause, by 10 hairdressers, in one hour.  Here are some quick behind-the-scenes photos from our Instafeed.

Fundraising for child cancer with Bald Angels 2015

SOPHI is taking part in an event to raise funds for children and their families suffering from the effects of cancer and terminal illness.  In looking to sponsors to shave her head bald, Sophi wants to raise essential supportive funds and also have a better understanding and empathy for those who do not have a choice in losing their hair during treatment.  Bald Angels is a charitable organisation dedicated to working with children and their families in the Far North, a region so often overlooked for funding.

As well as turning to individuals and business sponsors, we're placing some crafty jars around Kerikeri for people to place any burdensome small change into.  Customers who donate some coin or voice their support walk away with a warm feeling in their tummy and a hand-crafted origami paper crane.  See if you can spot them all!  We've left the first one at Odd Mother's Cafe, Kerikeri.

WANT TO DONATE?     All donations are welcome, however large or small.  Every bit counts.
Online donations can be made to Bald Angels Charitable Trust

AIRBORNE \\ A1 - Estère : Cambodia Behind-The-Scenes

We're not sure if you've noticed, but there's a behind-the-scenes section for the Estère (Jordan Rakei Re-mix) full of photographs, behind-the-scenes tidbits and our Instagram feed from the time.  If you're hungering for some behind the scenes travel photos, check it out!

AIRBORNE \\ Intro music +

Well, we're finishing up the last of our edits for AIRBORNE \\ and our music video postcards are making us remember and re-engage with all our adventures.  We've created the opening credits and thanks to THE ALL SEEING HAND, we have some beautiful music to accompany them.  The track sets the mood for our music video postcard series perfectly - thanks guys!

AIRBORNE \\ BUDAPEST - Filming for THOMAS OLIVER instrumental

We loved Budapest.  The first city that neither of us had been to before, it was a welcome treat.  The sunsets in Budapest on the banks of the 'Duna' Danube River are spectacularly vivid.  We also recommend Air BnB - we rented a wonderful Budapest apartment that made us feel very immersed in everyday Hungarian life.  In Budapest, the beer is cheap and the food portions enormous (except for when it comes to gelato).  The local liquor "Unicum" (est. 1790) has a potent fragrance derived from cherries.  The Budapest Metro is Sophi's favourite one thus far - a charming bouncing Soviet blue tin-can.

The thermal baths are a welcome treat after a day of traversing Budapest streets filming (we recommend Gellért).  It was easy to feel a romantic hue falling over the city as we filmed - imagining Thomas Oliver's Weissenborn instrumental as the light danced + played over the buildings, and people chatted and laughed by the Danube.

That wraps our filming in Europe!  We're travelling through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia before we begin the next stint of filming - in the USA.

AIRBORNE \\ BERLIN - Filming for BIG FLIP THE MASSIVE

It's been great to be back in Berlin, and we're surprised by how much it has changed.  A lot less grunge than when we were last here, so we actively sought it out by visiting many of the abandoned sites to film.  We loved the abandoned swimming pool, the abandoned US spy base and the abandoned Tempelhof Airport (now the city's largest public park).

We also managed to find some new gems on our down time - such as Stadtbad Neukolln (an Art Nouveau-esque / faux-Roman public swimming pool), a Ramones museum-come-cafe, brunch paradise Papilles, + minimalist design-haven cafe westberlin.

Our key words and key times to film from BIG FLIP THE MASSIVE
GRUNGE.  DAY + NIGHT.  We're in the process of editing and we're looking forward to presenting our mash mix of visuals for this quick-paced + deliciously original BFTM track in August.
Peace.

Cambodia - AIRBORNE \\ Estère

We're in Cambodia! We began filming in Siem Reap and are now in Phnom Penn editing to the fresh track from Estère.  This MVP (music video postcard) is looking to be a magical journey through time and nature.  Met some fantastic people, and recommend trying out Cambodian BBQ (perhaps not for the faint of gut).

Behind The Unseen - Trinity Roots' "El Kaptain" Music Video

We're getting really excited about releasing our video for this hauntingly beautiful track from the wonderful Trinity Roots fellows - not long now!  We developed the video concept with the band and the hugely talented people at Body FX, and had so much fun working on this unusual video.

We filmed the video in colour but our actors were made up in monochromatic make-up, producing a silent film era colour scale.  The props, set and costumes were also sourced and made to the monochromatic aesthetic.  Keep an eye out for mermaids...
