2016 - SHAPESHIFTER live at Riwaka

What a start to 2016! We've been enjoying the Nelson sunshine and the company of family and friends in the lead up to the new year, and were asked to head along to Shapeshifter live at Riwaka.  Thoroughly staggered (yet again) by the live performance these lads put on, as were the hundreds in the crowd.  We put together a series of Instagram videos showcasing the visual highlights.

On Location - Louis Baker "Rainbow" Official Music Video

WOW.
Talk about working with a professional - Louis was on task and hitting his marks time after time with his performance for our new collaborative music video project.  Louis received NZOA funding to create a music video for his new track "Rainbow" and we were presented with the challenge to create a video that showcases Louis' powerful, honest and stripped-back delivery.

We made our way through seven locations in and around central Wellington, Carterton, the Tora coastline and Martinborough, filmed in streaming sunlight and torrential rain, and ambled along bush walks, beaches and shingle pathways.  We're both really looking forward to putting together this video - more soon!

back HOME.
It's so great to be back in Wellington, and check out the sunbeams Wellington put on for us. You really can't beat this place on a good day.  We're here catching up with the boys from The Nudge (they'll be over in Bali for NYE), Jon Lemmon (who's working on a new mvproject www.whenitcamealong.com), the fine folk at Good Nature, and scouting locations for our next music video project with the outstanding Louis Baker.

Here we are folks,

We're very pleased to present AIRBORNE \\ A6 - Louis Baker "The Way" (re-mix produced by Devin Abrams) with his music video postcard from San Francisco, California.

AIRBORNE \\ NEW YORK CITY + SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco is lovely, but New York City has won over our hearts, particularly the Bushwick area, in Brooklyn.  We were lucky to stay in an industrial area frequented and inhabited by creatives, specifically in a notorious apartment, the 'Sky Fortress'.  Our hosts were an amazing group of individuals who welcomed us with open arms and whose artistic and travelling endeavours are thoroughly inspiring.  They and their friends (Stephanie, and 'The Brians', Brian and Brian being the most memorable of these satellite friends) hosted a BBQ and movie night on their building's rooftop, which provides a 360 degree view of Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline.  Unbelievable.
We're hoping to return to the Sky Fortress next year to work on a few projects - we'll be back!

AIRBORNE \\ updates - NEW YORK CITY : Joe Blossom
We had a week to capture the spirit of New York City, and our keywords for this video (as pitched by Joe Blossom) were 'Nostalgia' and 'Abstract'.  We filmed the bustling, humid city in the magical light of twilight as well as in Subway stations, and on the rooftop of the Sky Fortress.  We captured snippets of New York wherever we went, from Williamsburg to Midtown and we are looking forward to editing our music video postcard together.

SAN FRANCISCO : Louis Baker
What a whirlwind!  We had 24 hours to film this video - and San Francisco gave us fog, clouds, bright sunshine and even a hummingbird.  The colourful, stand-alone houses and the summer chill on the other coastline of the USA provided such a contrast to our New York experience.  We were lucky enough to participate in working on part of a decorative piece that will be featured as a shrine at the Burning Man festival this year, and that will be burned right underneath the Burning Man.  Such a creative ebb and flow to this hilly, foggy city.

MORE SOON!  We're getting very excited that we've wrapped our filming and will be able to get our music video postcards out by MID AUGUST >>

Amsterdam STOP|OVER + TORA! TORA! TORA! 2015

We have meandered from AIRBORNE \\ locations to Amsterdam, and it has definitely exceeded expectations - the slender brick buildings beside the fanning canal network, the charming river boats, the accessibility of the city by foot, the tram network, but by far most strikingly, the endless lines of cyclists casually milling past - so fluent with their vehicles that they pass with an ear to a cellphone or pinning up hair, or with a handful of children balanced around them.  There are also the coffee houses.

We've loved being in Amsterdam - and will definitely return.  While in Amsterdam we also found that the fantastic coastal music festival Tora! Tora! Tora! released our wrap video of the highlights of Tora! Tora! Tora! 2015.  It was another fantastic year, punctuated by the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse on the Saturday Night!  We love this festival of good times, great music, soothing coffee, sand, surf, relaxed parents and freed little wildlings able to let their hair loose.

We'll see you there again next year.

Live recorded music featured in the video from Tora! Tora! Tora! 2015 artists Amiria Grenell, The Bones and Fortunes.

GOODNATURE - Native Island Rat Control with Goodnature A24

Earlier in the year Mark travelled down to Wellington and Stuart Island to work with the good folks at Goodnature to put together this video.  Native Island is the first NZ island to have had rats removed by Goodnature self-resetting multi-kill traps.  Great work!

The video has just been released today.  If you want more information on Goodnature check out their website: www.

AIRBORNE \\ THOMAS OLIVER + ADAM PAGE

And here it is, folks.  Last, but in no fathomable way least, here are our final collaborating AIRBORNE \\ artists.  THOMAS OLIVER and ADAM PAGE, both brilliant musicians and composers, entirely dedicated to their respective crafts, and both are all-round GOOD humans.
Thomas Oliver is a fantastic vocalist, songwriter, and is world renowned for his mastery of the Weissenborn.  His work leaves an indelible soul-lifting mark upon audiences.  Adam Page captivates crowds of all ages with his multi-instrumentalist wizardry, wielding his looping pedals and cartwheeling vocal prowess.  He has performed in events ranging from fringe festivals to working with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra to perform his first symphony.

And thusly, our full AIRBORNE \\ line-up is revealed!

New Project, New Section - AIRBORNE \\

Have you been exploring our website recently? If you have, you may have noticed that a new page has appeared in our "videography" section.

AIRBORNE \\ is an exciting project we embark on this May, as we venture off on overseas adventures in SE Asia, Europe and the USA.  Working with previously unreleased tracks from 7 NZ musicians/bands, we are filming 7 music video postcards in 7 overseas locations, capturing our understanding of the spirit of each new place and setting it to sounds of home.  We have strict criteria to follow, as videographers - we have 3 hours to film in each location, and 72 hours to edit together a video.  We are also given a time of day (dictated by the musicians) to film, a theme, colour and keyword that describes the tone of the melody.

From mid-August 2015 we will release these AIRBORNE \\ videos, one per week.  It's going to be a beautiful collaboration between extremely talented NZ artists and our visual medium.  We've already received some of the tracks we're to work with - we feel very privileged to be working with such fantastic material.

Click here for the locations - artists to be released soon!

Behind The Unseen - Trinity Roots' "El Kaptain" Music Video

We're getting really excited about releasing our video for this hauntingly beautiful track from the wonderful Trinity Roots fellows - not long now!  We developed the video concept with the band and the hugely talented people at Body FX, and had so much fun working on this unusual video.

We filmed the video in colour but our actors were made up in monochromatic make-up, producing a silent film era colour scale.  The props, set and costumes were also sourced and made to the monochromatic aesthetic.  Keep an eye out for mermaids...

Oh, THESE GUYS.  Over the summer we followed these lovely humans around the country filming shows in Taupo, the Coromandel + Opononi - and The Black Seeds have just released another of the videos we made for them covering the tour.  The internationally renowned band played with Katchafire & Sons Of Zion.  We caught up with our lovely friends from Aerial Vision for some pretty dang fine drone footage as well.  Thanks, you beauties. x

Here's a video diary mashup of the amazing day they had in the beautiful Far North, set to their track 'Love Me Now'.

The Black Seeds : Summer Tour '14-15

Here's the first video from The Black Seeds nationwide Summer Tour with Katchafire and Sons of Zion.  Great guys to work with + film, we're releasing a medley of videos for this talented bunch.  We captured The Black Seeds from Taupo and across to the Coromandel, to the dunes of the far North of Opononi, and can vouch that these boys sure know how to put on a good show.

Superb crowds!  We had great fun.

Big thanks to The Black Seeds, Katchafire, + Sons of Zion.
